Karen O’Connor
Karen O’Connor is committed to advancing the mission of Operation American Soldier by organizing our annual golf tournament, an event dedicated to supporting and honoring deployed service members. My work is driven by a deep belief in service, community, and gratitude — values that guide every effort I undertake. I am happily married to Bob, a proud grandmother to Riley, and an avid golfer who finds purpose both on and off the course as we work to strengthen the support network for those who serve.
Sandy Carlo
Sandy Carlo is Operation American Soldier’s unstoppable bargain‑finding force. She shops every single day, tracking down the best prices and stretching every dollar to its absolute limit. Her commitment and savvy savings allow OAS to support more deployed service members than our budget alone ever could. Sandy’s energy, heart, and unmatched shopping skills make her one of the organization’s most valuable assets.
Avnish Kumar
Avnish Kumar is Operation American Soldier’s Web Developer. In 2025, he created OAS’s completely redesigned website and helped establish Google Workspace and Google Ad Grants systems to strengthen the organization’s online presence and support its mission. He believes that if you have the ability to help, you have an opportunity to make a difference, and he wanted to use his skills to give back to those who have served our country. Avnish is currently a freshman at Virginia Tech studying Computer Engineering and is a graduate of Newton North High School. In his free time, he enjoys swimming, creating things, and working on projects that turn ideas into something useful.
